weather 1.3.1
Created a bugfix release for the release yesterday. Sorry about creating two releases in so short time, but tonight I finally managed to reproduce the main gadget not updating. It seems Internet Explorer is caching the windows gadget data, at least on my Windows 7 installation. This caused some problems with the main gadget showing old time. This should hopefully be fixed now.
If anyone still have this problem let me know! I also appreaciate feedback on some of my questions in my previous post.

Excellent little applet. Had to hack a bit to get the right background colour, but as you support hex colours it was just a question of finding the right one
Thanks mate!

Nice
The main window updates issue is now fixed as far as I can see.
Just two minor nitpicks:
- The “time for time” window now doesn’t close down the hours that’s passed.
- Main window now shows a moon beside the temp, while the “time for time” forecast shows a sun. The sun hasn’t set here yet, and in any case I’d guess the best would be if both windows corelated.
Just minor things as I said, love this gadget, and I like the option to choose my own colours
Cheers.

Hello again. Sadly mine still have problems updating. It’s now stuck at the 0600 weather forecast, and in the expanded view it’s showing the 1200, 1800 and 2400 forecast. When installing the updated version I uninstalled the old one and restarted the sidebar. But I’m not sure this problem is all that consistent, because I didn’t notice it at first… Still a great app though! Keep up the good work!!

Excellent tool. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t update properly on Windows 7. Hope you find the time to fix this.

On my Windows 7 64 bit it does not get any data at all. I have tried with Norwegian and Swedish locations.

No data.. …will not work.

Got some problems with this widget too. Have worked fine for quite a while but now it’s completely dead, showing no data. It happened same day as the last microsoft security fixes was released. Hope you will get time to fix it soon. The widget was great while working.

Ok, many comments now so time for a update
- Thanks for notifying me about the no data. I didn’t notice it my self because of the cashing, mentioned in the next point on this list. I checked http://xml2json.larsolavtorvik.com/ and the example there and saw that I got no data at all from yr. This was caused by them upgrading their API version and then effectively breaking my app. This have now been fixed.
- Regarding showing old data. I have managed to get that my self on a Vista. It seems it is because of caching. When deleting the Internet Explorer cache, the data updated correctly again. I’m actually not sure how to prevent this, but I have a couple ideas I can try out for the next release.
- The thing about showing the moon different in main view and hour for hour is correct. That is a bug! I’ll either fix it or make it a config value being able to set what times you should show the moon, since I do not know when the moon raises and sets for your location.
- The proper update on Windows 7 is probably related to the caching issue as mentioned earlier since I’m using it on Windows 7 64-bit at home.

Works like a charm when deleting cache in IE
Thanks for the tip!

I added a “Cache-Control: no-cache” on the server side on the JSON parser, so please tell me how the updated are going or if people still get the cached data. Also try and open the settings and then close it again, to see if that solves the problem. The setting of no cache in IE have often been a bit problematic, so if this do not work I have a couple other options I can try so please give me feedback here.
I do not have much time to work on this widget since I’m working on “secret” project with some friends to create a FaceBook game, but I will try and see if I can get out a new release with the moon thingy during this summer

Great addon, just can’t get it to work :> Running W7, first time user of this gadget. Doesn’t find anything I try searching for(even manually entering lat/long), not even norweigian cities. Tried the cache-thingy aswell… any ideas?

@jiipey: Do other gadget’s work on your computer? If others work, do you have a 3rd party firewall that might block all data from sidebar.exe? I can’t really see anything else that can be blocking it… now after I updated the json parser to the latest version.

Jeg har Windows XP med ” Windows Vista Sidebar To XP - Made By Marius95”.

Great gadget!
Only problem i have encountered is that the 9 day forecast does not seem to work? Hour by Hour works though.

Like Trond mentions, the 9 day forecast seems to work just now & then, hour by hour works fine though. Keep up the good work

Hi! Thanks for a gadget I certainly will use - when I can.
I have a problem when entering the coordinates for my place. I live in Sweden where the symbol comma “,” is used as decimal separator. Thus I would like to enter them as “62,22222″ for example. However, the comma sign is prevented to use. As soon as I leave the textbox the value is restored to the previous value. I reckon this is because the gadget regards the comma sign to be an illegal character (like letters) and therefore restores the value to the last valid one.
So, why then don’t I use the dot “.” instead? I have tried, but in Sweden the dot is used has thousand separator character (like in 1,234.56). So, I enter “62.22222″ and the value is accepted even when I leave the textbox. But, when I press the OK button the dot is really treated as a thousand separator - the value is regarded as equal to “6222222″ - and I get no whether forecast…
The solution is to change the code and make the code that validates the input aware of the regional settings of my computer and in that way accept the comma sign where it is set as the decimal symbol.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
Regards, Fredrik

I am a fan of yr.no and we are using it at our official site of the Sala municipality. So, I would like the gadget if i only could make it work, that is, I am possibly sharing the same trouble as Fredrik.

Same problem as Fredrik and Pelle with the “.” in swedish regional settings. Hoping for a solution. I really like yr.no and windows 7.

After three Swedish comments in a row I took a look at my visitor stats for the http://weather.larsolavtorvik.com site and got a nice surprise. There are many more Swedish people using this program than I expected! Seems I also have visitors from countries ranging from USA to South-Africa.
I admin it is time for a new release fixing some bugs! I had hoped to get it finished today, but I found some unreported bugs that took a bit longer time then expected.
Stay tuned for a the latest version!

Hi,
nice gadget.
But how did you solve the “cache” problem under Windows 7 ?
I’m working on an own gadget which reloads changing images, which should not be cached. But it doesnt matter what I do, they are still cached and dor this reason not shown correctly.
Any idea how to solve this problem?
Many thanks
